Join Job Shadow
Written by OAC 2011

The OAC Job Shadow Program is looking for an additional member to round out their team. They are preferably looking for a first or second year student.

The Job Shadow program provides shadowing experience and opportunities for all OAC students throughout the entire school year. Job Shadowing is a method of career exploration that allows you to view first hand what it's like to work a day in the life of someone working in a career field that interest you. To be avle to 'follow in the footsteps' of a professional for the day is an excellent way to experience and 'try out' different career possibilities for yourself!

The Job Shadow team acts as a liaison between the student and the employer. Once the Job Shadow team member finds a suitable mathc, they connect them with the student interested in a shadow. The position isn't a paid position - it is part of the Peer Helper program (students helping students). There is a small honorarium each semester and it's a great opportunity to develop your communication and organization skills and network with employers - plus you get a great office right beside SFOAC.

If you are interested, please send an email with your resume to Carrie Steele ( This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it )

There are two planned class events in the coming weeks.

First, there will be a 2011 class dinner on March 23rd, at Shakespeare Arms (by the No Frills). The time is slated for 7:00, but is flexible (meaning we haven't set a definitive time yet). Watch your inbox for potential updates.

Second, there is a Pizza eating contest against the 13's. The potential date is March 24, but again, is not set in stone. Watch for updates closer to that date.

Hi Everyone,

There will be an SFOAC open meeting on Tuesday, March 2nd, in Thornborough. The exact room is to be determined, so check out the SFOAC site closer to the date for exact details. Pizza is available for dinner during the meeting.

There is also an upcoming 2011 exec open meeting, which is at 5:30 on Wednesday, March 3rd, in ANNU 141. Come on out to participate in the meeting, especially if you are thinking about running for an exec position next year. If the front doors are locked, the north loading dock doors should be unlocked.  Everyone is welcome to attend.  If you are running for a position in the upcoming elections this is a good opportunity to introduce yourself and tell everyone what position you are running for.
